‘The Corridor’ – Adobe After Effects final year project

by admin on Mar.03, 2010, under Video

‘A video created with Adobe After Effects to explore its effects, compositing and 3D capabilities’ – Dissertation project for Media Technology at Oxford Brookes University. All visual content is original with PS comps made from personal photographs & images from cgtextures.com. Narrative poem also original. Music by LFO – Moistly. Whole build took around 3.5 months and was a steep learning curve having never used AE before. Initial inspiration came from Andrew Kramers (www.videocopilot.net) ‘3D Room’ tutorial which was heavily expanded upon for this project. The 3D ocean tutorial was also useful and was again expanded upon in the final scene. Rendering was a nightmare; the HD PNG sequence taking 8 hours, the Uncompressed PAL DV version around 7. Was pretty chuffed with the end result and it was a lot of fun to make! Please share your thoughts, criticisms & ideas as I wish to make more vids…it all helps :) – Enjoy!

The Gifted(short vfx action movie)

by admin on Feb.24, 2010, under Video

Way back before 5000 AD, aliens visited earth. They find human rather feagile and primitive, no match for their advanced technology and skill. So they gave super powers to human. But the human abuse their gift, they kill and destroy everywhere they go. The aliens got angry and took the power back, but some of them escape. And those who keep the power, are still living among us. This film was made by me and my classmates for the chinese project. I translate it to english because I find most people who are interested in visual effects speak english. Sorry for there is just subtitles, so if you could, plz help me to record the voices in english. And send it to my email.

Rebirth of the Force (Remastered)

by admin on Feb.12, 2010, under Video

This new version includes better VFX and a shorter intro among other minor changes. No new scenes though. About: This Star Wars fan film is my first movie utilizing special effects, and 3D animation. It is set in the Star Wars universe, taking place after Return of the Jedi….. very briefly! I entered it in the 2006 Kansas State TSA but it didn't win. Honorable mention, though. But I am still proud of it cause everybody who came up to me afterwards said they thought the judges were stupid and that mine should have won. It was the only film that utilized any visual effects or any new technology! Many of you have asked me about how I do these cool effects. Well I learned a lot from other artists such as Ryan W, so I want to be able help others as well! Keep checking for my website to be up and running: www.waytoomuchfreetimeproductions.com
