This is the first Lego animation or “Brickfilm” as some people would call it, ever made, by a genius named “Lindsay Fleay”. It was created in Perth, Western Australia between the years of 1985 and 1989! I talked to Lindsay and he gave me permission to upload this to my Youtube channel. Normally I wouldn’t upload someone else’s work, but I had to spread the word on this classic. The Portal takes him to a strange and surreal LEGO world where he has a close encounter with a Monster and barely escapes with his life. His report to Captain Paranoia only gets him to trouble and his friend and shipmate P, doesn’t believe him. However, the Portal has a mind of its own, and reappears to upset the cosy world of the giant spaceship and its crew to reveal weirder worlds more peculiar than the last…”

‘A video created with Adobe After Effects to explore its effects, compositing and 3D capabilities’ – Dissertation project for Media Technology at Oxford Brookes University. All visual content is original with PS comps made from personal photographs & images from cgtextures.com. Narrative poem also original. Music by LFO – Moistly. Whole build took around 3.5 months and was a steep learning curve having never used AE before. Initial inspiration came from Andrew Kramers (www.videocopilot.net) ‘3D Room’ tutorial which was heavily expanded upon for this project. The 3D ocean tutorial was also useful and was again expanded upon in the final scene. Rendering was a nightmare; the HD PNG sequence taking 8 hours, the Uncompressed PAL DV version around 7. Was pretty chuffed with the end result and it was a lot of fun to make! Please share your thoughts, criticisms & ideas as I wish to make more vids…it all helps – Enjoy!

Project for my media class. It’s Stop-Motion Animation…. Basically i take a picture, move the object, take a picture, move the object, take a picture, on and on. It’s 30 frames per second / 30 pictures a second….. that’s ALOT of pictures…. Imogen Heap – Bad Body Double I edited the song to fit the animation. I didn’t want the viewers to realize what she was singing about till the end, which is why i removed the vocals from the first 2 choruses.
